Born and raised on James Island, Jay Poston grew up with tidal marshlands, beaches, and downtown Charleston as his playground. After graduating from Wofford College in 2013 with a degree in finance, Jay hit the road throughout the Palmetto State working on the campaign team for a 2014 candidate for lieutenant governor. That experience underscored his love of South Carolina and prompted him to return to his Lowcountry roots when the campaign wrapped.
Jay joined the Poston & Company team in 2015 and finds true joy in helping others establish roots in Charleston—whether that’s a first-time homebuyer, a retiree, or anyone in between. He thrives in negotiations (fiscal talk comes naturally to him) and has a knack for finding creative solutions to any roadblock. He’s a straightforward, honest communicator who’s committed to serving his clients as best as he can.
Jay calls James Island home and, when not working, can typically be found on a boat, on the golf course, hunting, or making his way through his favorite Holy City restaurants.
Home is everything. It’s family, friends, memories (both good and bad, happy and sad)—home has it all. My mom always called me a homebody. I’ve never been much of a world traveler. Why travel when you can call Charleston home though?
It’s too hard to choose just one. For bar food with the guys, I would say The Griffon, The Roost, or Moe’s Crosstown. For date night, Little Jacks, Mex 1, or Husk Bar. On a Saturday afternoon or night in the fall, Home Team BBQ for chicken wings and game changers can’t be beat.
Some of the best weekends in Charleston are the weekends where there is nothing to do or any big plans.
